Garage selling faulty cars

I have a friend that has just bought a car with brand new MoT from a garage who were selling the car as 'sold as seen. The garage he bought it from failed to explain about a faulty cv joint and head gasket fault on the MOT advisory slip.

Where does he stand with regards to getting said garage to fix faults or getting his money back?

Illegal sale. Unless the invoice specifically states it was a trade sale, sold to your friend for resale, the garage is liable.
