Dealer won't accompany me on fault finding drive

Am I being unreasonable to ask the main dealer to accompany me on a short road test to discover what is causing the popping like noise at the rear when going over rough ground? They have fobbed me off till now but the warranty is nearing the end and I want it sorted.

If he won't do it, pay someone else to do it and give you a written report, then confront the dealer with it.
