Scrapping a car?

My 1995 Rover 114 has finally died with a head gasket problem that is not worth repairing.

I see various websites advertising taking away scrap cars for sale as opposed to me paying them to take it away.

Are there any reputable web based traders in this area that you would recommend me to use or steer away from? Also what must I be aware of if I go down this route?
