Can’t give it away?

I had been procrastinating over the disposal of my old BMW for some time fearing DVLA bureaucracy, dodgy car breakers and other barriers to the whole operation. Having become exasperated by my lack of inertia, my wife found an organisation called Giveacar, a not for profit organisation (www.giveacar.co.uk). All you have to do is to email or call them and they will arrange collection and disposal of the vehicle passing any proceeds to any of the charities they list.

I called them on a Friday, they arranged for the car to be picked up by a local breaker who turned up, on time, on Monday. The breaker dealt with the V5 document and within 2 hours of collection I received an email with a DVLA certificate of destruction attached. I was amazed that this process could be so efficient. Great service, all hassle free with the proceeds going to charity. I commend it to your readers.

That makes a lot of sense. Years ago I advertised a car “free to a man of the cloth” and provided transport for a west country vicar.
