The rim reaper

Every time we look at a new car we're told we should have the "larger wheel option". We always understood smaller wheels with deeper tyres gave a better ride and more grip in the wet. We tried a new Mercedes C Class this week. It was just what we wanted, apart from the ride, which was lousy: hard and joggly. We now discover the car had the optional larger wheels. Is it worth persevering with the standard wheels in the hope of an acceptable ride please?

In a word, yes. The standard 16" wheels come with 205/55 profile tyres. My Mazda 5 is fantastic on 205/55 R16 Toyo tyres.
