Good Korea move
We have a growing family with 4 children (3-14) and a while back felt that we had outgrown our Mk2 Galaxy, so, with limited options when it came to space, went for a Ssangyong Rodius. It'll never win on looks, but has been a pleasure to own and drive and is unlikely to be beaten on space. We are now wondering if we should change, not because we don't like the Rodius (though it is coming up for 5 years old), but because our youngest daughter was awarded the mobility component of DLA earlier this year, so we are now eligible to buy a car through Motability. This looks to be a sound financial option, but the question is - should we change and if so to what? We like the look of the new Galaxy, but expect that we would hit the same space challenge any time we all go away. We would prefer to trade in the Rodius if we were to go ahead, but other than that have very little to add to a deposit. Can you advise?

The new SEAT Alhambra and VW Sharan are slightly bigger than the Galaxy: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/seat/alhambra-2010.../ You could also consider a VW Caddy Maxi Life: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/volkswagen/vw-cadd.../ and www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/caddy-max...t And the Hyundai i800: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/hyundai/i800-2008/ You don't BUY on Motability. You simply lease. You give them your mobility allowance and for this sort of vehicle make an additional payment up front that you do not get back at the end of the 3 year lease.

Good to drive and comfortable. Versatile with foldaway seats. Generally good quality. Diesel automatic option. Plenty of room in all back seats.
Curious but commodious seven-seater with an enormous luggage area, reasonable enough to drive, cheap to buy with 250,000 mile taxi warranty.
Proper seven-seat practicality which is more than you can say for most SUVs, practical and spacious even with all seven seats occupied, sliding rear doors are a real boon especially the electric versions.
