Half truck

I am retired, so motoring costs matter. I like basic, and favourite cars have been 2CVs and Renault 4s. I need a small pick-up, like the VW Rabbit/Caddy. All the current pick-ups seem like monster trucks, and the running costs will be too high. I can spend around £8k, with more for the right vehicle. Reliability, versatility and cost are my main concerns. I have been warned off Proton Jumbucks. All ideas VERY welcome.

There is a Uno/Punto based FIAT Strada pick-up, but only in LHD and only in Europe. There is also a Dacia pick-up. You would have to buy it in France or Germany (too difficult to buy in Italy). Then legalise it for the UK with correct lights, speedo, etc. Maybe www.lhdplace.co.uk could help you. Skoda did a Felicia pick-up from 1995 to 2001. Details of that here: skoda-auto.com/COM/model/olders/models/Pages/Felic...x
