Too much to ask
Last Thursday I took my 1-year-old Audi A3 (8,200 on the clock) for its first annual service at the Audi dealers where I bought it.
On Friday morning I drove it out of the garage and within minutes the oil light came on followed by the car stopping and smoke coming from the engine. It was really frightening.
I called the garage, who came to fetch it and was told later that it was down to a faulty oil filter. The Head of service told me they would go the extra mile and fit a brand new engine, but I would like a brand new car.
A car that has been so badly damaged can surely never be the same again and through no fault of my own. I have contacted Audi Head Office who will pick up the case tomorrow (Monday) but can I push for a new car? What is the minimum I should expect?

All you are entitled to is the replacement engine fitted FOC by the Audi dealer that bungled the service. You are not legally entitled to a new car and obtaining one to the same spec might be impractical anyway. The engine number will need to be changed in the V5C registration document.
