I’m considering a two-year-old Astra Hatchback 1.6i 16v VVT, ECOTEC 4 with 23,249 miles on the clock and an asking price of £11,995. I would be grateful for your views on the overall reliability of this model and whether the price is reasonable.

10 reg Hyundai i30 1.6s seen to be going for between £6,000 and £7,000 with balance of 5 year warranty. I'd reckon they are a better bet. I’ve had new ones on my site for less than £11,000. I can see no justification of £11,995 for a 2009/59 Astra 1.6, which should sell for between £7,195 and £8,650 at a dealer. Motorpoint recently had unregistered old shape Astras for under £10,000.
