Change of Scenery
I have a '55 plate Renault Scenic 1.9 diesel 130bhp that has proved extremely reliable but most importantly able to tow a caravan at approximately 1,300kg. I am minded to change to a new Scenic but the engine size is down to 1.6 litres, although still at 130bhp. Is this engine adequate for the van? I have road tested this new engine but only solo. Its response was much the same as the existing car.

The new Renault 1.6DCI 130 is the most advanced small diesel engine in the World. It’s chain cam and develops 320Nm torque at 1,750rpm with 80% from 1,500rpm. It has a three stage warm up for more efficient cold starts, low pressure cooled EGR, variable displacement oil pump, variable swirl and stop/start technology to emit just 115g/km CO2, with EC combined figure of 64.2mpg.
