Wheel deal
I recently purchased a BMW 118d SE through the BMW Approved Used scheme and am very happy with it. I received an email from the dealer regarding an offer for winter wheels and tyre set. This is my first rear wheel drive car and would be grateful for your advice.
I live in Kendal, Cumbria and the snow was on the ground for around 3 weeks last winter. I managed to get to work which is a 60 mile round trip but as I have this car now would you recommend changing to winter tyres and wheels? The dealer quoted me £840 for winter tyres (Goodyears) on 16” Steel Wheels, with wheel trims £60. This includes the taking off of my current alloys - delivering them to my home, fitting and balancing. Your thoughts please would be helpful.

BMW advertised an excellent offer of winter tyres already on steel rims for £700 including trims, so maybe £900 is the fitted price and you can save £200 by fitting them yourself, as I did. Just be sure to inform you insurer that you have fitted them. If you want it cheaper, forget the £60 wheel trims.
