Will a KIA Venga or cee'd diesel cope with an annual mileage of 11,000 with two long journeys per month?
Please advise on the benefits, if any, of buying a KIA Venga or cee’d diesel based on an annual mileage of 10,000-11,000 with at least two trips per month of 350 miles and the balance made up of local motoring. I’ve always been led to believe that it was not economical on such a low annual mileage. The KIA salesman stated that two long journeys per month would clear any adverse build-up from the local mileage. Obvious savings on road tax and fuel consumption would justify the cost over my present car, a Renault Grand Scenic.

I don't know. I do know that not a single reader has complained of DPF problems with the KIA 1.6 diesel engine in any vehicle, so you will probably be okay. Diesel particulate filters collect soot and smuts when starting an engine from cold, so it is the number of repeated cold starts without warming the engine up that is the problem. Repeated starts of a warm engine, on the other hand, should not choke the DPF.
