Entirely normal. Most of a car's braking is at the front. The rear pads only touch the rear discs under very heavy braking in order to stabilise the car. Consequently, overnight corrosion does not get cleaned off the rear discs as effectively as off the fronts. That's why corrosion can eat into them as it did to yours.
