Why are insurance companies now asking brokers not to contact third party accident management companies?
You may be interested to know that some insurers have started asking brokers to sign new terms of business agreements agreeing not to contact any claims management company or solicitor first (even if the client has paid up front for that service) but to pass the details directly to them so that they can instruct their own claims management company to claim for car hire and injury for their own profit. So even if a client has paid for honest, reasonable legal protection cover up front the insurer is forcing them to contact themselves first so they can pass the details onto their own claims firm for referral fees. The client 'should' be allowed to opt out but we know what the high pressure tactics are like, we know what few will give the client an option to opt out and in many cases their details will be passed on without the clients consent anyway, It should be totally the clients decision on who pursues their claim for them.

This is also a problem being confronted by manufacturers setting up their own accident management services in order to ensure the cars are repaired well enough to be re-sold by a franchised dealer. The huge benefit to insurers is shorter repair times and shorter hire car times, cutting out credit hire. Lord Chief Justice Jackson's recommendations urgently need to be applied.
