Where can I get the best price for my MINI Cooper?

I have not sold a car privately for about 15 years and would like to know the safest way to go about this. The BMW MINI dealer only offered £3,500 for my MINI Cooper as a trade-in, but suggested I may get considerably more by a private sale. The brief details are MINI Cooper, auto, 13,000 miles, one owner, March 2003, sun roof, Chilli pack, full leather, sat nav, blue, black roof and electric sunroof, serviced by BMW dealer etc. By the way I have just bought a new Cooper S. Absolutely fantastic but expensive. I look forward to your assistance.

I don't think the safe way (www.sure-sell.info) will get you more than the dealer offered in part exchange because basically this is an old car, eight years old, despite its low mileage and very high spec. Maybe local advertising, emphasising the automatic transmission, sunroof, leather and satnav (in that order).
