Should I plug my Honda Accord's battery into a charger on a time switch to give it a two-hour daily charge?
I recently had to change the battery on my five-year-old Honda Accord because I only use the car for holidays and long journeys. We use a Jazz day-to-day. It was marginal whether the battery needed changing but as we were going touring I decided not to take a chance. The supplier of the new battery knew about my dilemma and advised that if I wasn't using the Accord regularly in the future I should put a trickle charger on a time switch in the garage for a two hour charge daily, and that would keep the battery in good condition. Is this sound advice?

You don't need a time switch. Just buy a battery conditioning trickle charger and leave it permanently connected when you are not using the car. This will maintain the charge in the battery at 13.5 volts.
