Can you recommend a small petrol automatic hatchback to replace our Nissan Qashqai and Toyota Verso?
Having considered a rationalisation of our transport requirements, my wife and I have finally decided to address the situation. I am 81, and my wife is not far behind. At present I drive a 2008 Qashqai Acenta 4WD DCI auto (5,000 miles), which is ideal for Isle of Wight roads and also with its height, for the ease of getting in and out. My wife drives a Y-reg Toyota Verso auto (12,000 miles), a super roomy small car which, inexplicably, is no longer made. Collectively we only do a few thousand miles annually, and invariably nowadays, together.
We anticipate many more years driving and are looking for a new, smallish, petrol automatic hatchback. Hopefully we would trade in the current cars but can add to the proceeds if we can find the optimum solution. Given sufficient internal space and good quality I am not too particular. My wife's criteria relates to all-round vision, having a particular aversion to sloping bonnets which cannot be seen. We would be grateful for your advice.

Britain missed the second incarnation of the Toyota Yaris Verso, which was called the Ractis in Japan - brief details here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/toyota/ractis-2006/. But we do now have the Toyota Verso S, which is based on the third generation Yaris and actually precedes it to the UK market.
