Did you know that the average driver has clocked up £338 in parking fines by the age of 35?

Incredibly, it has been revealed that British motorists are paying a shocking £991 million in parking enforcement penalties each year. By the age of 35 drivers will have clocked up on average £338 in parking fines equates to a massive £1,351.80 in parking fines across their driving career. The survey by short-term loan company Lending Stream revealed that 75 per cent of UK motorists have received parking fines for unwittingly breaking the rules. Of those, over half (52 per cent) did not realise they were parking in a restricted zone. A further 23 per cent have been charged for over staying their ticket - sometimes by only a few minutes.

In view of the fact that the BPA is trying to get a bill through parliament making vehicle keepers liable for private parking charges, that is very useful information to help fight this bill. That said, I think MPs have already been got at and many may have a vested interest in this matter.
