Inspecting drains

I have owned a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible for around 3 months and really love the car. However, during the first real cold weather in December the battery was completely flat after not being used for 3 days, no panel lights, central locking, completely dead.

A new battery was fitted and all appeared well until the car was left again for three days, where the new battery completely died. The car was checked by a local auto electrician after the battery was charged and the battery/alternator was given a clean bill of health. However whenever the car is left for around three days the battery dies.

It has been to a local garage twice for the problem but they are unable to find any problems, the last time the car was there for 4 days, and there was no battery drain, but the weather was warmer, around 12 degrees. The garage said they can't fix a problem they can't find! The problem seems to be temperature related, whenever the weather is around freezing the battery dies. The last time the battery died the car was left unlocked, so exactly what is draining the battery is a mystery. Your advice much appreciated.

Could be something silly like the glove locker light staying on. You can find out by switching your mobile phone to movie mode, then putting it in the glove locker. If it records light rather than dark, then fix the switch or take the bulb out and your problem may be solved.
