I could not agree more with the point you are making. How can taking a paper cylinder of tobacco out of a packet, putting it into your mouth, bringing either a naked flame or a red hot coil to it, creating acrid fumes that get into your eyes, then having to dispose of ash and the occasional red hot ember be less dangerous than eating, drinking or using a mobile phone in a car? That said Health and Safety laws make it illegal for anyone to smoke in a company car because of the danger to other passengers of passively inhaling the cigarette smoke.
