How do I get rid of cigarette odour?
I have just taken delivery of a nearly new car from Mercedes. The car was delivered to my home address and I immediately noticed a strong cigarette odour inside.
I mentioned this to the dealership in a phone call and he agreed with me and apologised that it was not attended to before sending the car to me.
What is the best way to completely eradicate this odour.
The car has only done 2000 miles and I was looking forward to a new car smell - not cigarette smoke. Am I right to expect the dealership (a Major Mercedes one) to pay for a valet to get rid of the smell?

A comprehensive valet should go some way to removing the smell of cigarettes, as would replacing the cabin filter but it's one of those smells that's hard to shift. You may also wish to consider using an odour eater too such as an activated charcoal product. We think it is reasonable to request that the dealer has the car valeted for you, but there is no guarantee that they will agree.

The cigarette odour is impossible to eradicate completely. Would a distance purchaser have every right to reject the car, is that the legal position? .
