Honesty is the Best policy
In the early hours one morning last week, my driver's side mirror was clipped and damaged by a passing car while I was in a roadside shop picking up a paper. The driver of the car not only stopped but ran back 100 yards to investigate. Even though I was not in the car, the driver guessed I could be in the shop took the trouble to come in and find me.
As well as a full apology, he offered to pay for any repairs. We exchanged mobile numbers and he promised to forward his address so that I could send the repair invoice, the address duly arrived. The bill turned out to be an expensive £275 (after a generous 10% discount offer from Volvo) and even though I offered to contribute £100 to the costs on the premise that if he hadn't been so honest I would have been the one with a bill, he refused this and insisted on covering the full cost.
What an outstanding act of honesty and integrity on the part of a twenty something young man.

That confirms that there are still some honest people about and should serve as an example to everyone. It may have cost him £275, but everyone is happy and everyone's conscience is clear. Not only that, it was a lot cheaper for both of you than if he had put it through his insurance. Now neither of you need suffer premium increases for having been involved in a claim.
