Could you inform your readers that the Administration of Justice Act 1970 covers harassment by private parking companies?
The ongoing saga of private parking companies is a regular in your column. Your advice to pay a small amount in full fair and reasonable settlement is good advice. You also recently advised RR of Liverpool regarding the return of his 'letter of appeal' and his cheque and the intimidation by, in this case, Euro Car Parks. Could I add that the breach of criminal law by the PPC is dealt with by Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970? Further useful information can be found by accessing the website Pepipoo.com and searching for advice on Private parking companies.
I recently received the same type of 'ticket' after buying and displaying a parking ticket which blew into the windscreen and out of direct sight of the 'attendant', who issued me with an illegal penalty notice which I 'appealed' against, I then received the same type of threatening letter as RR of Liverpool, my reply, stating that my contractual obligations had been met, quoting the above Act and requesting no further contact unless it be for a court date where I would plead my case in front of a judge, would appear to have silenced the PPC. Please print this letter to advise more motorists about the leeches that inhabit the offices of PPCs' and our defence against them.
