Can you recommend a smaller, more economical replacement for my Mercedes-Benz B-Class?
I bought a B-Class Mercedes-Benz car last year in order to be able to carry my husband's electric wheelchair, (with the help of a hoist) and also a manual wheelchair, folded between the front and back seats. He has now died and I would prefer a slightly smaller car that is easier to park and which is more economical to run. I don't want to lose any safety features or the high seats that make it so much easier to get in and out. I have thought that the A-Class might be a possibility but I would be so grateful to you to have your advice.

Not much wrong with an A-Class, though a new one is due next year. It has the same engines and CVT automatic transmission as the B-Class. Five alternatives are the Hyundai ix20 1.6 auto, the KIA Venga 1.6 auto (same car, different look), the Nissan Note 1.6 auto, the Toyota Verso S Multidrive CVT or the Honda Jazz CVT-7. The Jazz is particularly suitable for anyone needing to accommodate a wheelchair because the rear seat squabs life up providing space in the centre of the car.
