Please continue to advise your readers to adopt the left-foot braking technique in automatics.

I am so pleased to see someone with knowledge recommend left-foot braking. Please continue to press the several advantages of using this technique. I ran a Porsche 928 Series 4 auto for seven years and over a mileage of 35,000 (when bought) to 147,000 (when sold). It took me one afternoon on an abandoned WW2 airfield to learn the technique and I continue to use it today in my C 270CDI auto estate.

It is a boon in city driving and in heavy traffic, because the changeover lag is eliminated. It can also enable you to keep the brake discs clean and operable at all times while in very wet conditions. If local regulations permit higher speeds, then a left-foot dab helps settle the car as you enter a fast corner. And finally, you can hold the car on the brakes while also holding 2,500RPM on with your right foot. Then, lift the left one and give the youth revving up that fast-hatchback next to you a big surprise when the lights go green. It baffles the younger generation that granddad can be so quick.
