Which make and brand of winter tyre would you recommend for my Honda Jazz SE?

I drive a Honda Jazz SE on a 69-mile round-trip to work every day and, due to the repeated cold winters we now seem to be getting (due to global warming, apparently) I'm considering getting a set of winter tyres. The commute up to work is done mainly on dual carriageway/motorway but the return journey is done on both dual and single lane A-roads. Do you recommend any particular brand or make of winter tyre? When would you consider it to be 'winter tyre season'? What's the best way to store the 'dormant' set?

Take advice from these suppliers of combination wheels with winter tyres pre-fitted: www.mytyres.co.uk or www.rarerims.co.uk. Or for tyres alone, www.event-tyres.co.uk
