Volkswagen group engine confusion

If the 2.0-litre(210 bhp) engine is the same in the Audi TT, Golf GTi and Volkswagen Scirroco, why is there such a big difference in quoted torque figures?

The TT has 258ft/lbs compared to the 207 nad 208 ft/lbs in Golf/Scirroco.

Would the TT`s torque not be very desireable in the VW coupe? Would have thought some VW owners may have remapped to get the extra pulling power? Just curious!

This engine changed about 2008/2009 from belt cam to chain cam and that is when the changes took place. The switch over was gradual. Not everything got the new chain cam engine straight away. You're mixing up the TTS with the standard TT:

TT: 13-1-2008: TTS Coupe and Roadster launched. 272PS and standard magnetic ride system. Debue at the North American International Auto Show and for UL order from mid-2008/ Powered by an extensively modified version of the 2.0-litre Turbo FSI petrol engine delivering 272PS and peak torque of 350Nm between 2,500 and 5,000rpm. Coupé (manual) 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds, limited 155mph top speed, 29.7mpg, Roadster 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds, limited 155mph top speed, 29.3mpg.

Scirocco: New 1,984cc TSI unit features substantial changes including modified pistons and piston rings, an improved oil pump, new induction system and a high-pressure fuel pump. 210 PS between 5,300 and 6,200 rpm, 206 lbs ft (279Nm) between 1,700 and 5,200 rpm.
