Should I sell of fix my car?

I have a 2002 Volvo V70 T5 Automatic. I bought it in 2005 for over £10,000 with 60,000 miles. It now has done 187,000 miles.

Lots of history, but for the last year I have changed the oil, filters & plugs myself. It has an emissions warning light on, has a warning light “transmission service urgent” on the dash display (you can turn it off), the gearbox sometimes takes up with a jerk as you go from over run to accelerating, and it sometimes clonks into gear as you select Drive.

It has been like this for the best part of a year & I still use it daily (it’s only ever let us down once in all those miles) and it hasn’t got any worse.

Also has oil leak from main bearing seal (gearbox must come off to do it)

Should I get the car fixed or should I get rid of it?

The car is trying to tell you that it wants to roll over and die. It can only now become a moneypit. Get rid.
