Ford with a leaky bulkhead. Manufacturing fault?
My wife bought a one year old Ford Fiesta in July 2011 from Wilson Auctions. In November we noticed the carpets were soaking and on bringing it to the Ford Garage, they said its a bulkhead leak and will cost £1100 to fix. Its not covered under warranty. Is this a common fault with new Ford Fiestas?

No. Normally in UK law the selling dealer would be held responsible, but this was not a dealer, it was an auction. Could be that the car has been crashed and the sealing was missed on the repair. The Ford manufacturer warranty is only 1 year. The remaining two years are Ford dealer warranty and are restricted.

After carrying out an oil change, I have a leak from the sump plug. I used a metal washer from the filter pack, not a copper one, as I would have expected to seal the sump plug. Could this be the cause?
