I want a reliable commuter vehicle for A roads
I've just started a new job with a 50 mile commute each way, mainly on motorways and fast A roads.
Is it worth getting a diesel? And how about if I want to have an automatic?
My budget is £5000-8000, and the job is for 3 years, after which I'll be selling it on.

Best not to think diesel automatic. I'd go for a KIA cee'd or Hyundai i30 1.6CRDI for balance of long warranty, chain cam diesel engines and lack of DPFs until late 2010.
