Hand prints in the paintwork

Last winter the car was covered in snow and ice from time to time as it stood outside our house in London. When the weather had warmed up in the Spring and I washed the car I noticed the imprints of hands on the paintwork of the bonnet. These imprints are quite small, about the size of children's hands. I cannot remove them! Any ideas as to what has happened?

Gathering snow for snowballs. Must have been some kind of handcream on the kids hands. There doesn't seem to be a cure for the problem.
