Drive lost on Focus TDCI

Ford Focus 2002 TDCI, driving along... lost drive , pulled over, car will go into gear without touching the clutch, clutch feels like normal when pressed. Will not pull away (no drive). Although in 3rd you could hear a slight grinding noise and car stalled when clutch released.
