We have been waiting four months for our new car to be repaired - what can we do?
My dad (who has limited English, which is why I always go along anywhere where paper work/documents need to be overseen) bought a car knowing there was a fault in the window. However the dealership assured us it would be fixed the following week.
However four months later they have still not fixed it despite giving them maximum flexibility in booking time slot or car repair. I have been very clear that we are available any time any day for an appointment. My dad is currently on holiday for 2 months and we have given them the car full time and they still have not fixed it. I have been going in every week for updates but it seems like they are at a stand still. At this point the car has been in their possession longer than it has on ours. They have kept the car for 9 weeks vs us where we only had been in possession for 6 weeks
Can you advise me on what to do? I have been thinking to take them to small claims court. My insurance would not cover a courtesy car and I am pretty sure they will not give me one to?

Given the amount of time that the dealer has had the car it seems unlikely that they will carry out the repair. One option would be to reject the vehicle and ask for a refund, you can read our guide to this process here - www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ but given your experiences with the dealership so far they may not make this easy for you. Alternatively you could take the vehicle back and have the window repaired by an independent garage, which will likely be the quickest and easiest solution.
