Unfair parking charges
My wife parked at Aylesbury Shopping Park (Cambridge Road) on 30/6/11 for approx 1 hour to visit Paul Simon Curtains and spent over £1000. She returned to find a parking notice saying she had parked without displaying a ticket. Unfortunately she apparently failed to notice it also contained a "fine."
Parking is apparently free for first 2 hours. She has now received a letter from UKPC now demanding £90 as option for reduced charge has lapsed. It has photo of car front number plate. It threatens further action within 14 days and a legal charge of an additional £60 if not paid within that time. Car park was less than half full.
I have read the various threads relating to parking charges on your web, please can you advise in the circumstance where she failed to obtain a ticket from the machine (its a comparatively new procedure, it used to be free)
1/ Should she ignore all demands?
2/ or should she send a nominal amount say £10 in full settlement?
3/ Is it correct that they have to sue the driver and not the owner?
I unfortuantely have had substantial legal experience and threats of bailliffs et al are no worry, but I need to know where we stand. Would be very grateful for your advice!

The £10 "in full and final restitution for my minor breach of contract" seems to be working very well for other readers. You will know that to threaten bailiffs before the have a court order is illegal and will get their licence revoked.
