Hybrid or diesel?

I do 40k a year, would a Honda Insight have less trouble than a diesel?

Simpler, unstressed reliable mechanics. Toyota Prius IIs have been doing 400k miles in the hands of taxi drivers with very little trouble. I recently got 62.3mpg over 300 miles in an Auris hybrid, driving normally.
