Be reasonable
I bought a '97 100k mile Merc S500 retail from a 2nd hand dealer for £2,750 5 weeks ago.
The car has an LPG system I was told was working, it isn't. We've agreed £850 cheque to me and I'll sort it out (quotes so far of £1k plus but I'm a reasonable man).
He wants me to send a letter saying "no more come-back because the car is old and cheap" before he'll send the cheque. I feel I shouldn't do this in case something else goes wrong. If I push it and we end up in court will this be seen as unreasonable of me?

You are being unreasonable. Accept the cheque and the conditions, or hand the car back and get a refund.
