How wide does a gate need to be for a car and a small caravan?
What is a good standard width of a gate in a fence to accommodate a car or small caravan? I realize it;s not official but just looking for a sensible approximation.

The vast majority of cars are a small amount less than two metres wide - a Ford Focus, for example, measures 1844mm. You'll want a bit of room to swing in and out and manoeuvre properly, so a sensible minimum width for your gate is about 2.5 to 3 metres between the gateposts.
