Replacement 4x4

I have a BMW 520D (2009) which averages 54mpg at 70 mph+.

However I am looking to replace it, ideally with a 4x4. Budget up to £25k, either new or up to 6 months Old.

Looking for good consumption and good overtaking power.

Have looked at Freelander, X5, Q5, BMW X3 (F25).

What would you suggest that will give me a comfortable drive, good consumption ( high 40's on motorway) and overtaking ability?

You don't have anything like enough for an F25 X3. Pushing it to find a used Q5 for £25k. You could manage a Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2 diesel 4WD. They handle very well and I got 45mpg, which is better than you'll get from a Freelander II 2.2 with the same engine. See: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mitsubishi/outland.../ I also got 55mpg from a 2WD Mitsubishi ASX: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/mitsubishi/mitsubi.../
