Long waiting lists

I have ordered an Alfa Romeo Giulietta from NHS fleet solutions, with the order being placed on 21st April.

I have contacted them to firm up a delivery date and I have been told it's slipped back to mid August (at the dealer). This was after an initial pie in the sky estimate of 12 weeks from ordering to sitting in the car.

Is this kind of a delay normal at the moment? Another staff member is being quoted end of July for a Passat ordered 2nd week of April.
