ESP failure
My 56 reg golf plus has finally produced an ESP failure caption. It has covered 30,000 miles with full VWSH.
The main dealer diagnostic indicates a failure which requires an ABS unit repair kit, which the garage has in stock!
Another fault, with the airconditioning, which I now discover is another known weakness of the Golf mk5, can also be fixed immediately as THE SPARES ARE HELD IN STOCK.
Concerning the repair of the Teves unit, I was informed that the dealer had contacted VW Headquarters in Wolfsberg, Germany, and I would be charged for 50% of the repair. I have stated that I will contact customer service but this dealer is hell-bent on producing an invoice within 36 hrs. How can I press my case for a free of charge repair, I have already asked for documentary proof of this alleged decision by Wolfsberg?

This is the standard ATE Teves Mk 60 ASS/ESP Pressure Sensor fault I have been banging on about for nearly two years now. Eventually VW did what I suggested in the first place and started repairing the modules at a cost of around £600 (using a £300 kit) rather than replacing them at a cost of £1,500 upwards, usually to the customer. But VW and its dealers being what they are, they still try to minimise their exposure to this problem of their own making.
