Double blippers
I have been to view a second hand Kia Picanto 2006 (06) and the engine kept cutting out whilst it was stood on the forecourt. The dealer has since rang me back to say that the problem was due to both keys being on the same keyring and interfering with the imobiliser. Is this true they did read me something from the car's "manual" but i don't know whether to believe it or not?

If it is true then you need to see the car demonstrated not displaying this fault. I do strongly advise all drivers to hang nothing else from the same ring as the car keys.
