X-Trail error code
I own a 2004 Nissan X-trail 2.2 diesel.
Whilst I was driving the car suffered loss of power (limp mode).
Diagnosis was done by a trustworthy local garage and I was given a fault code of p0089 and quoted £800 for a new part plus labour at £25 p/h (approx 5hours labour).
He now says he will be unable to do the job as he does not have the required tools, The nearest Nissan dealer is 40+ miles away, They have quoted me £2243.38 and they say that they need to do another diagnostic check as it may be the filter, a valve or the fuel pump.
The local garage that quoted me first had been given advice and a price for the new part from the same Nissan dealership.
The price has gone from £800 to £1243 for a new part. Nissan are quoting £1000 for labour.
I am a single foster carer with school age children and the vehicle is vital to me as I live in a rural part of Wales.
I feel I am being given the run around could you please advise me what the code "p0089" signifies?

The Code P0089 is indicating a fault "fuel pressure regulator".Your fuel pump would have a pressure regulator fitted to it, and also a pressure regulator sensor fitted somewhere on the fuel rail.
Could you not ask your local garage to see if he can get the special tools to complete the job?
