Excesive brake wear

In January we had to replace the pads and discs all around on our 06 diesel Civic.

After four months our service and MOT was due, so I was very surprised to hear that the pads were worn 50%(os) and 70%(ns).

The dealership pushed the blame on how the car is driven and on the stability control braking the wheels independently. The car has done around 6,000 miles, most of which are on the motorway.
I have booked it in with the dealership that changed the brakes but I have a bad feeling that they will not be much help. What could possibly cause the pads to wear so quickly?

The caliper pins could be dirty leading the brakes to partially stick on. If your fuel consumption has been heavy, then this is another symptom.
