Car improvements after a service

During its first 90,000 miles my Civic pinked under acceleration below 2,500rpm unless I used my right foot with great sensitivity.

This week the car had a 90,000 mile service and all the pinking has ceased. I cannot even induce pinking by flooring the accelerator at low revs!

The 90,000 service included a new cam belt. This is the only difference from all previous 9,000 mile services.

The car is now a pleasure to drive! Any idea what might have happened in the 90,000 service?

Yes. The timing was corrected probably by just one notch of the belt.
