What's the most economical, reliable and comfortable automatic SUV with 4x4 for around £20k?

We live up a steep hill on an unmade road. I do low mileage (6000 a year or so) but have been spoilt with my current electric car auto gear box which is obviously silky smooth perfection! The new house needs something that can cope with the hill and muddy rural roads and alas we cant afford another EV. Any particular recommendations for the switch back to a petrol car?

There are some really good deals available on used electric cars at the moment. It sounds like a secondhand Audi e-tron might fit the bill nicely - it's not a true off-roader, but it should be able to cope with hills and muddy rural roads. The Jaguar I-Pace is worth a look, too. If you're determined to switch away from electric, we'd recommend a Toyota RAV4. It's a robust hybrid SUV available as a 4x4.
