Are all-seaons tyres a good idea?
I'm due to replace two tyres and the other two are probably due for replacement in 6 months. I'm wondering about taking the plunge and fitting all weather tyres (5 as I have a spare). Do you think it would be worth it?

All-season tyres offer superior grip to summer tyres in wet and cold conditions, which may be useful if you live in a part of the country that is particularly affected by this kind of weather. The downside is that they usually offer less grip in the dry than summer tyres, and also tend to generate more noise and offer worse fuel consumption, so it is a matter of balancing the positive and negative aspects to decide if they are suitable for your needs.
The ideal scenario is to have a second set of wheels fitted with winter or all-season tyres and switch between them and your summer tyres as conditions dictate, although this may not be suitable for everyone.
