I have seen a car for sale on Facebook but the same car is advertised in multiple locations - is this a scam?

I saw a Suzuki Jimny for sale on Facebook Marketplace which i was interested in, so sent a reply to the ad. While waiting for a reply I started scrolling further down the page and noticed the same vehicle was being advertised in four different parts of the country, what's going on here?

Unfortunately many social media platforms that allow the buying and selling of goods are rife with fake and scam adverts, typically placed in order to harvest information and also to extract money from potential buyers. There are genuine sellers out there but it is important to be vigilant when enquiring about a vehicle, and never send any money to a seller.
