Car crash insurance claim
On Sunday my car was backed into in the church car park. The driver of the other car left a note on the windscreen giving her phone number saying she was sorry and would pay for the damage. I rang her and she gave me her address and said she is insured with Tesco.
How do I proceed now?
I am a pensioner and my car is 11 month old VW Golf. The back driver side bumper has a large dent and a little scratching. I do not really want to claim on my insurance, as I understand I shall lose my no claims bonus by making a claim, even if it is somebody elses fault.
I am sure my future premiums will raise substanially because of my age if I make a claim now.
Do I get an estimate for the repair, do I contact Tesco or do I wait for her to do something?

Talk to her again. Suggest you get some quotations from local bodyshops and you settle it between you without involving any insurers. If you do involve insurers, you both face stiff hikes in your insurance premiums for 5 years to come, so even if the quotations are around £500 it would be better to pay yourselves than involve your insurers.
