Fiesta 1.4 TDCi (05 plate) engine whooshing noise when accelerating

My Fiesta 1.4 TDCi (05 plate) has started to make a whooshing noise when accelerating hard from about 1700rpm upwards. This has just started happening since all four injectors seals were replaced.

I noticed this immediately when driving home after the injector seals were replaced. The car has been back to the garage who have checked everything was re-assembled OK. The noise sounds like it is behind the dashboard but you can only hear it when accelerating.

It may be just me, but there also seems to be a slight loss of power when accelerating.

Any suggestions or pointers to give the garage when it goes back for the third time later this week would be most helpful.

Well what you are describing is in fact the failure of the injector to "seal" against the injector seat. It may be that although they have replaced, the seals that sit in the cylinder head have been eroded away by the escaping gases resulting in damage to the seat. If this is so then it may require that the seats need refacing usuing a seat cutting tool.
