First Car for 31 year old
My son has at 31 just taken and passed his driving test and is proceeding to take Pass Plus. He needs to buy a car for use in city centre (Birmingham) with motorway driving at weekends to London and Cambridgeshire.
Safety, economy and likely inner city damage problems figure in my thoughts on choice,
His preference is for a new style Fiesta (which is out of budget). Please advise regarding suitable first cars - it seems much more complicated than it was 40 years ago!

I'd go for a Mazda 2 1.3TS2 (specifically that model). The latest version is £30 tax. Older examples (back to 2007) are £90 tax. Cheaper and more fun to drive than a current model Fiesta.
